Notion introduced a developer platform that lets teams connect AI agents, outside data, and custom code inside a Notion workspace.
In short: Notion announced a new developer platform that lets teams connect AI agents, outside data sources, and their own code directly inside Notion.
Notion, the company behind the popular notes and docs app, shared the news in a live-streamed product announcement. The goal is to make Notion a place where people can work alongside AI agents, and also connect those agents to the tools and data a business already uses.
Notion first launched “Custom Agents” in February. These are AI helpers that can do repeated tasks, like answering common questions or writing status updates. Notion says customers have created over one million of these agents, but they were limited because they could not easily use outside data or custom rules.
The new platform adds “Workers,” which is Notion’s built-in place to run custom code. Think of it like a small, fenced-off workshop inside Notion (a secure sandbox, meaning the code runs in an isolated area). Workers can also use “webhooks,” which are automatic signals (like a doorbell) that trigger an action when something changes in another app.
Notion is also adding database sync. It can pull in data from other systems that have an API (a way for apps to share data), including tools like Salesforce and Zendesk, and databases like Postgres. Notion also says users can chat with certain outside AI agents inside Notion, including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Decagon, with more planned.
For teams, this could reduce the number of separate tools needed to automate routine work. Instead of copying data between apps or setting up outside automation services, more of that work can happen from within Notion, using live data and AI helpers in one place.
