Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey cast list does not include Michael Caine, while a new audiobook uses an AI-made version of Caine’s voice.
In short: Michael Caine is not listed in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, but Caine’s voice is being used in a new audiobook with help from AI.
Christopher Nolan’s next movie is a big-screen adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. Universal plans to release it in theaters on July 17, 2026. The announced cast includes stars like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson, but Michael Caine is not on the list.
That absence stands out because Caine has been a familiar face in many Nolan films, including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, and Interstellar. For some fans, seeing a Nolan project without him feels like noticing a long-running TV show without a regular character.
At the same time, a separate project is drawing attention for a different reason. A new audiobook is described as sending Caine’s voice “off on its own adventure” using AI. In plain terms, this likely means voice cloning, which is software that can copy the sound of a person’s voice and read new lines they did not record, like a very advanced impression.
AI-narrated audiobooks are becoming more common, especially when a well-known voice can be licensed. The key questions are whether the actor gave permission, how they get paid, and how clearly companies tell listeners when a voice is synthetic rather than recorded in a studio.
