Microsoft says its Gaming Copilot assistant will come to Xbox Series X and S later in 2026, after beta tests on Windows 11, mobile, and handheld devices.
In short: Microsoft announced that its Gaming Copilot assistant, now in beta, will launch on Xbox Series X and S later in 2026.
Microsoft shared the update during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2026. Sonali Yadav, a product manager for Xbox gaming AI, said the company plans to bring Gaming Copilot to current-generation Xbox consoles later this year.
Gaming Copilot is an AI assistant meant to help while you play. Think of it like a helpful friend sitting next to you who can answer questions and point you in the right direction, without you leaving the game.
Right now, Gaming Copilot is still in beta, which means it is being tested and may change. It is available on Windows 11 through the Xbox Game Bar (a built-in overlay that sits on top of your game), on the Xbox mobile app for iOS and Android, and on ROG Xbox Ally handheld devices.
Microsoft says the assistant can do things like explain crafting recipes in Minecraft, suggest strategy tips, and offer personalized coaching. It can also recommend games based on what you play, remind you about Game Pass renewals, and show details about achievements.
Microsoft has not shared any new features that are specific to consoles yet. The company has also filed patents describing ideas like auto-detecting when a player is stuck, but those features are not confirmed for Gaming Copilot.
For many players, getting help usually means pausing the game and searching the web. If Gaming Copilot works well on consoles, it could make getting quick, simple answers easier while you play.
