Grindr CEO George Arison says AI now writes most new code and he expects AI agents to write almost all code over time, with humans overseeing it.
In short: Grindr’s CEO says AI agents already write most of the app’s new code, and he expects AI to write almost all of it in the future.
George Arison, the CEO of Grindr, said he believes there will be a time when “almost all the code that we produce will be written by AI agents.” An AI agent is a software tool that can take a task, do the work, and bring back results, a bit like a junior coworker that works very fast but still needs supervision.
Arison also said this does not make engineers less important. Instead, he expects human engineers to spend more time guiding the AI, checking the work, and making sure it is correct and safe to use.
Arison has said AI already creates most of Grindr’s new code. In different public comments, he put the share at up to 70% and also around 80%. He has pointed to tools like Claude Code, which is an AI system designed to write software, as part of how Grindr builds and ships features faster.
Arison describes this as turning Grindr into an “AI-native” company, meaning AI is built into day to day work across teams, not just used for one small feature. He has also linked this approach to a “leaner” company, and has suggested some entry-level jobs could shrink as AI takes on routine tasks.
A key question is how Grindr balances speed with oversight. If more code is written by AI, the company will likely need strong review and testing so mistakes do not slip into the app, especially in areas like safety and user trust.
