Google is rolling out Video Remix in Google Photos, letting some paid subscribers change lighting, backgrounds, and styles on videos with a few taps.
In short: Google Photos is rolling out a new “Video Remix” feature that uses AI to change the look of your videos in seconds.
Google announced a new tool in Google Photos called Video Remix. It sits in the app’s “Create” tab. Google says it can edit and transform a video quickly, without needing separate video editing software.
Video Remix uses AI, which is software that can recognize patterns and generate new content (like an automatic helper that suggests edits). Google says the tool is powered by Gemini Omni, a Google AI model.
The feature can do several common edits with a few taps. It can brighten a dark clip using “cinematic relighting,” replace a plain background with something more interesting, or apply art styles like watercolor, a sketchbook look, or an oil painting effect. Google gave examples like making it look as if a video was shot in a greenhouse, or adding a warm morning glow.
Google says Video Remix starts rolling out today for eligible Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers. It is launching in the U.S. and also in Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, and Turkey.
For many people, video editing feels like a time sink. This update is meant to make those edits as simple as choosing a filter, similar to picking a preset when editing a photo. It also shows Google is adding more AI features directly into everyday apps people already use.
