Google is rolling out a beta feature that lets Gemini use your Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search history to answer questions with more personal context.
In short: Google is expanding a beta feature that lets Gemini use your Google apps and history to give more personalized answers.
Google launched a beta feature called Gemini Personal Intelligence on January 14, 2026. It connects the Gemini assistant to a user’s own Google data, including Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search history.
At first, it rolled out to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. Google says it will expand access to all eligible US subscribers within about a week, and later plans to bring it to more countries. The company has also said it may later offer it to free users and connect it to Google Search’s AI Mode.
The goal is to help Gemini answer questions with less back and forth. For example, it could summarize travel plans by pulling flight details from emails, or suggest actions based on patterns it sees in your photos and searches. Think of it like letting a helpful assistant look at your calendar, inbox, and photo album so it does not need you to repeat the same context every time.
Features like this can save time, but they also raise privacy questions because they involve personal information. Google says Personal Intelligence is opt-in only and off by default, and it says it does not train its AI on your personal data. Google also says Gemini will try to avoid sensitive topics, like health, and it includes ways for users to give feedback.
