Google lowered the US price of Google AI Plus from $7.99 to $4.99 per month and doubled included storage from 200GB to 400GB.
In short: Google lowered the monthly price of its Google AI Plus subscription in the US to $4.99 and increased the storage that comes with it.
Google announced it is cutting the US price of Google AI Plus from $7.99 per month to $4.99 per month. At the same time, it is doubling the included cloud storage from 200 gigabytes to 400 gigabytes.
Cloud storage is online space for your files, like renting a bigger locker that you can access from any device. Google product lead Vikas Kansal said the storage increase will roll out to users over the next several days.
Google AI Plus is Google’s lower-priced paid plan for its Gemini AI tools, and it launched earlier this year. TechCrunch reports the plan includes features such as video generation, a creative tool called Google Flow, and NotebookLM, which is an AI research assistant (think of it like a helper that summarizes and organizes information you give it).
Google also sells higher-priced plans called AI Pro and AI Ultra for people who use these tools more heavily.
This price cut suggests AI subscriptions in the US could start to look more like streaming services, where companies compete hard on monthly cost and bundles. Google and OpenAI have already tested lower prices in markets like India, and this move brings that kind of competition more directly to US customers. If rivals respond, regular users may see more discounts, more bundled storage, or new budget plans over the next few months.
