Google Cloud and Accenture form unit to help companies deploy Gemini AI

What happened

Google Cloud and Accenture said they are forming a joint unit called the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group. Its job is to help large organizations use Google’s AI tools and services, especially Gemini, in day to day work.

A key part of the plan is using “forward-deployed engineers.” That is a fancy name for engineers who work on site with customers, like a specialist who comes to your office to set up and fine tune a complicated new system. Google said it will train up to 1,000 Accenture engineers for this work, and they will help build custom AI apps on the Gemini Enterprise platform.

The move comes as more AI companies focus on implementation, not just making new AI models. TechCrunch notes that rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, and Amazon have launched similar efforts because many businesses struggle to turn AI spending into clear results.

Google is also trying to catch up in enterprise AI spending. Data from Ramp, cited by TechCrunch, puts Google at about 6% of enterprise AI spending among U.S. businesses, compared with Anthropic at 43.5% and OpenAI at 39.7%.

Why it matters

Many companies buy AI tools but get stuck when they try to plug them into real work systems, like customer support, finance, or internal documents. If this kind of hands on help works, it could make AI more useful for regular employees and it could also shift more business toward Google’s AI products.
