Studio Fountain 0 says it is making an AI-generated Odyssey remake called Odysseus: The Fall, planned for rent or purchase later this summer.
In short: Fountain 0 says it is making an AI-generated movie called Odysseus: The Fall and plans to sell it digitally later this summer.
Fountain 0, a film studio, announced on Tuesday that it is working on Odysseus: The Fall, an AI-generated reimagining of Homer’s The Odyssey. “AI-generated” means software helps create the images and scenes, a bit like using a very advanced version of auto-fill, but for video.
The studio says the movie will be available to rent or buy directly from Fountain 0 in a digital release later this summer. The project is directed by Ash Koosha, who previously worked with Fountain 0 on Dreams of Violets, another AI-generated film.
According to the report, Koosha made Odysseus: The Fall on a budget in the “mid-five figures,” which means tens of thousands of dollars. That is far less than a typical Hollywood movie budget. For comparison, Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Odyssey reportedly cost about $250 million to make and is expected to bring in $80 million to $100 million at the box office in its opening days.
This is another sign that some filmmakers and studios are using AI tools to make movies faster and cheaper, especially when a big, well-known film is already getting attention. For regular viewers, it could mean more low-cost movies arriving online, and more debate about what counts as original work when software is doing a lot of the creating.
