Stockholm-based startup Fika Jobs said it has raised a $4 million pre-seed funding round. The money will be used to keep building the product, hire more people, and prepare for a wider launch later this year.
Fika Jobs is building a video-first hiring platform. Job seekers connect their LinkedIn profile, then an AI asks them personalized interview questions based on their background. An AI is a computer program that can generate questions and responses, like a fast assistant that follows patterns it learned from lots of examples.
Candidates record a roughly 10-minute video interview with the AI, which is currently powered by Google’s Gemini models. After that, Fika automatically turns the interview into short video clips and organizes them into a profile that employers can browse, similar to keeping a “highlight reel” instead of sending a new resume for every job.
The platform is free for job seekers. Employers do not pay upfront, but Fika says it will take 10% of a candidate’s first-year salary when a hire is made.
Fika plans to open early access to candidates this week, with a broader launch expected this fall. It will start in Sweden, then expand to other countries.
Many people feel job applications disappear into a black box, and companies are using more automated screening as applications pile up. Fika’s approach could make it easier for employers to see communication skills early, but video also raises concerns about unfair bias, since employers can see a person’s appearance and hear their accent before reviewing qualifications.
