Seattle startup CopilotKit raised $27M to help developers add AI agents that can act inside apps and show interactive screens, not just chat text.
In short: CopilotKit has raised $27 million to help software teams build AI agents that work directly inside their apps and can show interactive screens instead of long chat replies.
CopilotKit, a startup based in Seattle, announced a $27 million Series A funding round. The round was led by Glilot Capital, NFX, and SignalFire, according to TechCrunch.
The company’s goal is to make “AI agents” easier to add to regular apps. An AI agent is a helper that can take actions for you, like filling out steps in an app, not just answering questions. CopilotKit says many apps today only add AI as a chatbot, which can feel awkward if the task really needs buttons, charts, and other on screen tools.
A key part of CopilotKit’s approach is something it calls AG-UI. It is an open standard, meaning other companies can use it for free. Think of it like a shared plug shape that helps an AI connect to an app’s interface, so the AI can do things like update what you see on screen.
CopilotKit also says it is building a paid enterprise version with features businesses often ask for, including self hosting, which means running the software on a company’s own servers instead of someone else’s.
If this works as intended, people using everyday apps could get AI help that looks and feels more like the app itself. For example, instead of getting a long paragraph about revenue, an app could show a company branded pie chart you can click and explore.
