Anthropic’s Claude Code points to a shift where AI writes more code and people spend more time reviewing plans, changes, and security issues.
In short: More people are building software with AI tools like Claude, and the job is shifting from typing code to checking and guiding AI output.
Claude Code is a web-based tool from Anthropic that helps people build apps by chatting with an AI. Instead of writing every line by hand, users describe what they want, and the tool creates the code and suggests next steps.
This is part of a broader 2026 pattern. AI “agents” (software that can take steps on its own, like a helper that follows a checklist) are handling more routine work like quick prototypes, basic features, and common bug fixes. Developers, and even beginners, spend more time approving changes, testing results, and making bigger decisions about how an app should work.
Claude Code also includes planning features. It can break a request into a task list, keep track of context across sessions, and iterate when something looks wrong, like adjusting a layout. It can also connect through tools people already use, including a web interface and extensions for editors such as VS Code.
Security is another big part of the shift. Claude Code Security can scan a codebase (the full set of files for an app) for weaknesses like “injection” bugs (when an attacker tricks software into running unwanted commands). It then proposes specific fixes and gives ratings so humans can review and decide what to ship.
Faster app building is useful, but it increases the need for careful human oversight. Watch for how teams set rules for approvals, how often AI suggestions introduce new mistakes, and how companies balance helpful security scanning with the risk that the same knowledge could help attackers.
