Apple has released its revamped Siri in the iOS 27 public beta. Siri can use your on-phone info to answer questions and help with everyday tasks.
In short: Apple has started rolling out a revamped Siri, called Siri AI, in the iOS 27 public beta, with a wider release expected in September.
Apple’s updated Siri is now available to anyone testing the iOS 27 public beta, which launched in July. The company had delayed these features multiple times, according to TechCrunch.
Apple says Siri can now understand your “personal context,” meaning it can use information already on your iPhone to help you. For example, you can ask Siri to find a receipt you saved, even if you do not remember where you put it. It can also pull details from photos, like a driver’s license number from a picture, or a QR code you screenshot.
Siri is also designed to feel more like a conversation. You can talk back and forth, type instead of speaking, and use Siri through a dedicated app for the first time, including referring to past chats. It can also do common actions more reliably, like playing the exact song or podcast you asked for in your preferred app.
TechCrunch reports these changes were enabled in part by Apple’s partnership with Google, using Google’s Gemini AI models to help train Apple’s own models. An AI model is the software that powers the assistant (like the “brain” behind the words).
For iPhone owners, this is a practical upgrade that can save time when you are searching for something or trying to get things done hands-free. But the moment may feel quieter than expected, because many other AI assistants now do more complex, multi-step work, so a capable voice assistant no longer feels new.
