Apple announced new Apple Intelligence updates that group Safari tabs, help update passwords, build Shortcuts from plain text, and improve photo editing.
In short: Apple announced new Apple Intelligence features across iPhone apps, including smarter Safari tabs, easier password fixes, and new photo and automation tools.
Apple said it is adding new AI (software that can predict and generate text or images) features across several built-in apps. In Safari, tabs can be grouped by topic automatically, and Safari can suggest related tabs to add. Safari is also getting a “page monitor” that can alert you when a page changes, like a price drop or an updated news page.
Apple also plans a one-tap way to update passwords that may have been exposed in a breach. The idea is that your phone helps handle the steps for changing the password, instead of you jumping between websites and forms.
In Messages, Apple is adding suggested replies and a way to find photos by typing what you remember, like “pics from the beach trip” (like searching your closet with a description instead of opening every drawer). Calendar will let people create events by typing a simple sentence with the time and participants.
Apple said the Phone app can show helpful info from other apps while you are on a call. For example, if you call an airline, it could pull your flight details from an email as you talk.
Shortcuts, Apple’s automation app, will let users describe what they want in plain language, and the app builds the steps. Photos and Image Playground are also getting stronger editing tools, including better object removal and ways to expand or reframe an image.
These updates aim to reduce busywork on your phone, like organizing tabs, finding old photos, changing passwords, and setting up automations. They also mean more of your personal information may be used to help the phone make suggestions, so people may want to pay attention to how these features handle privacy and control.
