Anthropic says Claude can create charts and diagrams in chat

Anthropic says Claude can generate charts, diagrams, and other visuals during a conversation, including an interactive periodic table example.

1 day ago•Product Launches

In short: Anthropic says its Claude chatbot can now create custom visuals during a conversation, like charts, diagrams, and interactive dashboards.

What happened

Anthropic told The Verge that Claude can generate visuals when it thinks a picture would help explain what you are discussing. The examples include charts, diagrams, and dashboards (a screen that shows several numbers and charts in one place).

Anthropic’s example is a chat about the periodic table. Claude could respond with a visual version of the table that you can click to learn more about each element.

This feature is tied to Claude’s existing “Artifacts” tool, which is designed to show generated visuals and small interactive pages. Artifacts can include flowcharts and diagrams, simple graphics, and interactive web elements (little mini pages you can click and use, like a tiny app).

One important detail is where these visuals show up. In Claude today, Artifacts typically appear in a dedicated side panel with a preview and an option to view the underlying code (the instructions used to build the visual). The Verge report describes visuals appearing directly in the conversation, but other available descriptions of Artifacts emphasize the side panel rather than inline placement.

You can find Claude in our directory at Claude.

Why it matters

For regular users, this is about getting clearer answers faster. Instead of reading a long explanation, you may get a picture you can interact with, like looking at a map instead of hearing directions.
