Anthropic will rent about $45 billion worth of computing power from Nscale over several years, adding more capacity for its Claude AI services.

Anthropic, the company behind the Claude chatbot, has signed a deal to rent about $45 billion in AI compute from Nscale, according to a source familiar with the deal.
“Compute” is the raw computing power needed to run AI, like renting more engines and electricity to keep a very large factory running. In this case, the computing power is expected to start powering Anthropic’s services in late 2027.
The deal was first reported by Bloomberg. Bloomberg also said the agreement lasts six years and the computers will come from Nscale’s main data center in West Virginia.
Nscale is a British company founded in 2024. The company has already signed deals with big customers, including Microsoft, and it plans to supply Anthropic using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips. These are advanced AI chips, meaning specialized computer parts made to handle AI work faster than regular chips.
Anthropic has been signing several large computing deals recently. TechCrunch noted a $10 billion deal with cloud provider Volta earlier this month, a $5 billion compute related deal with AMD in July, and a SpaceX arrangement that is reportedly worth $1.25 billion per month.
For everyday users, these deals can affect how reliable and fast AI tools feel, especially during busy times. More rented computing power can mean fewer slowdowns, and it can also make it easier for companies like Anthropic to offer new features.
